Mass spectrometry MALDI-TOF / TOF

It is called MALDI (Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption / Ionization) and TOF (Time-Of-Flight) by the ion detector that is coupled to the MALDI and whose name also comes from its acronym Time-Of-Flight.

It consists of a soft ionization of the analyte that causes the vaporization of intact thermolabile, non-volatile molecules such as proteins and lipids in a molecular weight range of 2 to 20 kDa, at a relatively low cost and immediate result.
