Course on the Basics and Applications of Powder Diffraction

We are pleased to announce that this year the 5th edition of the course "Fundamentals and Applications of Powder Diffraction: Quantitative, Microstructural Analysis, and the Rietveld Method" will be held in Granada. This course is organized by the Laboratory of Crystallographic Studies and will take place from September 16 to 18, 2024. The course is part of the CSIC's Highly Specialized Courses program.

The main objective of this intensive course is to offer specialized training in the use of advanced X-ray powder diffraction analysis methods. The goal is for students to acquire knowledge and, crucially, practice in profile-fitting methods with and without a structural model, aimed at applications of scientific and industrial interest.

Special emphasis will be placed on quantitative analysis of crystalline phases, quantification of amorphous phases, microstructural analysis, and refinement using the Rietveld method, using TOPAS software.

You can find more detailed information in the attached brochure, as well as on the website https://www.lec.csic.es/cursosxrd/

We invite you to participate and appreciate your collaboration in promoting this course as widely as possible.
