Tribute to Carmen Galindo Francisco

The Petrology, Geochemistry and Geochronology Session of the X Geological Congress of Spain, held on 5-7 July 2021 in Vitoria-Gasteiz and organised by the Geological Society of Spain, hosted a deserved tribute to Dra. Carmen Galindo Francisco, who sadly passed away in September 2019. Her fellow geologists attended this session in which numerous research works were presented and which was intended to be a tribute to the areas of work to which Carmen Galindo had devoted her entire professional career. Carmen Galindo, in addition to being Professor of the Department of Mineralogy and Petrology of the Faculty of Geological Sciences of the UCM, was for the last 25 years Director of the CAI of Geochronology and Isotopic Geochemistry.

In the aforementioned session, one of the guest editors (Ricardo Arenas) presented a tribute volume of the Journal of Iberian Geology. This volume consists of 21 research papers closely related to geochemistry and geochronology, most of them incorporating results obtained in the current Geochronology Unit (CAI of Earth Sciences and Archaeometry).
