Preclinical molecular imaging
Reference: PET - CT
TECHNIQUE
PET/CT imaging technique for obtaining structural and functional information in vivo in a minimally invasive way, thus ensuring ethics in preclinical research.
The Albira ARS II PET/CT unit is a hybrid scanner for small animals (rat and mouse) consisting of a double PET (positron emission tomography) ring with a continuous crystal detector, which offers a field of view of 80 mm and a 50 kV micro-CT (computed axial tomography) module with a field of view of 60 mm.
This equipment allows static and dynamic studies to be carried out, obtaining images with a resolution of up to 1.5mm in PET and microns in HR CT (High Resolution). It is also equipped with an electrocardiogram and respiratory gating recording system that allows the animal's condition to be monitored during image acquisition.
SAMPLES ANALYSED
Thanks to its high sensitivity, PET imaging has become one of the main tools for the in vivo functional study of animal models in projects as varied as oncology, neurosciences, cardiology, etc.
Computerised Axial Tomography (CT) complements PET by giving it structural support and allowing the evaluation of densities in both living organisms and other types of samples.
RATES
PET studies are performed with 18F-FDG (18F-fluorodeoxyglucose). The price of studies with other radiotracers will be established by quotation.
REQUEST FOR SERVICE
The Application Form on this page must be sent to BioImaC prior to the start of the service.
RESEARCH ANIMAL STUDIES
The performance of these studies implies the fulfilment by the users of the requirements established by BIOIMAC according to the document on this page.
CANCELLATION OF BOOKINGS:
Must be made more than 48 hours in advance. Cancellations with less notice will result in the study being invoiced.
