ICTS Complutense Bioimaging

Bioimagen Complutense (BioImaC) is a Research Support Center at the Complutense University of Madrid that offers advanced preclinical, anatomical, functional, and molecular imaging services.

The center provides scientific and technical support in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Computed Tomography (CT), and Optical Imaging (bioluminescence and fluorescence), as well as in high-resolution NMR spectroscopy applied to biological samples using the HR-MAS technique.

BioImaC integrates state-of-the-art technological infrastructure, operated by highly qualified personnel, which it makes available to the research community to advance biomedical, preclinical, and veterinary research.

BioImaC’s infrastructure includes:

Equipment classified as unique by the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities and, as such, included in the ReDIB Distributed ICTS to which BioImaC is affiliated: 

o    ICON-1T low-field Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) system 

o    BIOSPEC 9.4T high-field Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy system, the latter funded by the European Union with “NextGeneration” funds

500 MHz MR spectroscopy system with a High Resolution Magic Angle Spinning (HRMAS) probe for the analysis of semi-solid samples, such as tissues and food. 

Hybrid scanner consisting of a dual-ring PET scanner and a micro-CT module.

IVIS Revvity Optical Imaging System for the non-invasive visualization and monitoring of biological processes in live animals, using both bioluminescence and fluorescence.
